Hi, all.
I have a mid 2015 MacBook Pro that seems to be having trouble seeing external
drives. When I plug a drive into either of the USB ports, it tells me the
desktop which is where drives usually appear is empty. This doesn’t happen all
the time, but it does seem to be happening more often

The easiest method is to press cmd-1 for Icon view, cmd-2 for List view, cmd-3

I don't use quicknav, and find it confusing as ever, and always use listview

Hi,
Works fine for me. I tried it in Icon view and List view with cmd-o and it
opened normally. Column few wouldn't open with cmd-o, but that's normal I
believe. In Finder Prefs, I checked and unchecked the box for opening Finder
windows in Tabs with no difference. Do you have QuickNav on?
I made a mistake when posting the command for opening folders. It's
option-down-arrow and option-up-arrow. To open a single file, it's
command-down-arrow.
