Hi! The only way of having your phone translating the way you want that I know of is to get an android phone. I had a Nokia 8 and you could actually ask it things in Swedish and it translated it into Swedish. I guess the translation app from google is more integrated on android than on apple. /A

That is how are used to operate, I would just read the translation on the screen, but then, with iOS 16, the screen reverts back to a Siri screen and illuminates the text from the screen.
