Thanks Anne, was just curious how that worked. I’ll have to take a look just to
get familiar with the differences. Thanks again and take care.

Well, I tried group mode on forum.audiogames.net, and it worked okay but my
goodness it was very slow and laggy. Otherwise, it did exactly what I wanted!

Hello Tim,
The command to switch between DOM and Groups mode exists but has no shortcut.
You have to use one of the commanders for this. The command is in the Web menu
and is "Toggle Web Navigation DOM or Group”.

How does one switch between the two modes. I’ve always missed this one.

Well in Windows, I go to the heading of the post, like 3 heading level 2 or
something, press down arrow to get into the list, the press comma twice to skip
both the list and sublist, that’s with NVDA.

Strange, I’ve always found that forum very agreeable as compared to many other
boards (though it’s still no substitute for mail, obviously). But I agree that
the easiest way of dealing with the header of every message is to simply skip
it line by line, which means simply getting into the habit

I always use dom mode as well, with group mode, you have to interact with
everything, no thanks, just give me a structured order of the page. If I want
to skip something, there are key strokes to do that.

FWIW, I prefer DOM mode all the time. I have tried group mode every now and
again, but I found that the supposed efficiency benefits were never there for
me, and in fact I’d simply miss out on details that I actually wanted. Since
group mode is based on document structure, it should in theory

God I love the activity manager. Probably one of the sweetest! features in
Voiceover in my opinion.

Hi Grant and All,
If one uses the right option key in web navigation, will it interfere with
using the right option key (if set) in keyboard commanders to create shortcuts?
I didn't know if the right option key worked independently in different apps.
I'm just curious.
Thanks.

I believe Yuma is referring to VoiceOver’s fast searching feature. This can be
enabled from within VoiceOver utility (press CTRL+OPTION+F8 to get in there).
The setting you want, “enable fast searching”, is in the navigation section.
Once you turn this on, you could, for example, go to www.apple

I personally find group mode
I am curious if you, or someone else can tell me how to do this:

Hi,
I use Group mode pretty well all the time. As Anne mentioned, it seems much
quicker when navigating sites you are familiar with as it allows you to
navigate quickly past groups of content on the page that may be irrelevant to
you at that time. I also use tab navigation fairly often in con
a day in my
life.

I would use it all the time except that no matter how many upgrades come down

Hey whatever works for ya. I switch depending on need but as a long ago and

Hi there
I very seldom use DOM mode. I’ve tried it a few times, and it didn’t get me
what I wanted. Maybe I just don’t do enough web browsing.

I prefer groups mode in general as I find it more efficient. DOM mode seems
tedious to me as it’s harder to skip elements when you know a website well. I
have a short cut to switch between navigation modes for those times when DOM
mode is better, such as when using the Safari Reader. In Groups m
