ever since MS updated their Skype a couple of weeks back, I no longer hear
speech in the text frame automatically. Also, it appears that the growl
checkbox was removed from the application configure dialog for Skype. Any clues
as to how I can work around this? According to system preferences

I've never done anything with Growl since I began using a Mac last spring.
With the improved notification center in Mountain Lion, I don't see any value
in it anymore. Maybe I'm missing something but what notifications I've seen,
all works fine with base stuff.

Growl is problematic as it is. Although it worked on my Macbook Pro it
did not work on my friend Gary Price's Macbook. Somehow I got Dropbox to
notify me via a standard box, and this is built into the app. The only
thing I can think of is the notification centre is involved.

growl launched in the background. When i would try to open menues, it would
kick me completely out of growl.
I haven't had the time to reinstall it so I'll try and do it today.

For example: growl has, on its settings - i do not remember where-, a
button called preview which makes you listen the voice you are
choosing for notifications. With voiceover on, preview does not talk.

OK, I'm still a little confused, do you mean open growl with command O and then
use command , to get to the preferences. If so, that's what I've been doing
and it still gets me nowhere cause it says that growl is running in the
background. Am I doing something wrong. Probably
