I already have an old Apple Super Drive DVD CD that I can connect to any Mac.
However, recently I bought another DVD writer which will connect to a windows
computer and Apple Mac. I bought it for my El Braille which is coming shortly
just in case I needed to connect a DVD drive

This is normal. The power requirements of the SuperDrive state that it must be
connected directly to a Mac, and not through a USB hub, powered or otherwise.

Vlc is one but its a bit tricky to view all titles at once.

I just received my compact external DVD R/W drive and have connected it to my
MacBook Pro via the USB C connector. Sad to say that the result was
underwhelming. Even after I inserted an audio CD, there was no response. I
would have at least expected my Mac to start playing the music
You don't need the apple device,
Just an external usb dvd drive would do what you require.
I've got a no name USB external dvd drive and it works fine both on my MBA and

I'd check the drivers for your burner. The stock DVD Player app on your Mac
should work just fine. The Apple USB Super Drive often works better and is
needed to boot from DVDs, but you should be able to play them just fine with a
third party device.

I finally got around to ripping my DVD library and all of the sudden I am
having severe issues with Mac DVD Ripper Pro and I wanted to see if anyone else
is having issues like these. I ripped a bunch of DVDs store bought and some non
store bough but now for most DVDs either I get

I have an external USB CD/DVD drive which definitely has lightscribe ability,
and when I tried the Simple labeler software from Lightscribe, it worked to a
point, don't get me wrong, but it was a little bit confusing with Voiceover.

OK, I have a question about this. Is this for burning labels onto
lightscribe discs, or is this more for actually printing on to labels, which
you then would stick on the CD itself.
If this can be done with Lightscribe discs, I very very much am interested!
