Dear All
The PDF viewer that I use together with LyX is GSview. Contrarily to the
DVI viewer, GSview takes a few seconds to update the file shown when the
file is updated by LyX. (With the DVI viewer, when I go to view the DVI
file, the file is already updated on the viewer.) I would like to kn

I followed the suggested procedure and it worked fine (I am using gv for

DVI allows for rapid preview of your document. Once you are satisfied

'M-x buffer-view pdf' will use whatever viewer you set in the preferences.

I have the following question to BibTeX. As it sometimes happens, I cite

You may use tex2pdf: you set everything using usual latex runs,
then running tex2pdf uses the original graphics for the pdflatex runs.
You get an hypertext PDF in addition, without managing hyperref yourself.
Thanks a lot, Jean-Pierre, for your suggestion!

how do i insert a reference to a table i created in lyx into part of the

this is not very convenient,as it means that lyx inserts a reference to
the section the table is in too so i get something like "see Table 1

Have a look at jurabib, a very powerful bibtex package. IIRC it can do what
you want.

I am typing a document and when I try to spell check it, LyX tries to do

Thank you a lot in advance!

Keep in mind that there's an extra conversion step with PDF. When you
update the page view using the DVI viewer, LyX writes out a temporary
LaTeX file and runs LaTeX against that file. LaTeX produces a DVI file
as output, which the viewer then shows. When you view in PDF, the same
steps are

How portable is a DVI file? Can I be as assured that a DVI will display
the same on other systems as I can that a PDF will?

Hi,
It would be great to have buffer tabs in LyX (much
