kpsewhich ecsi.mf
It should tell you where the ecsi font source code is installed (probably in
the jknappen package). If you get a blank line as the response, you need to

I have been using Lyx for quite awhile now and have run into something I
do not have a clue on. I have the latex-xft-fonts installed. In math
mode, some greek letters appear as boxes, e.g., \mu, \pi, \rho, \sigma.
All other symbols seem to work fine and appear on screen fine.

I have used lyx 1.3.0 under SuSE 8.2 with installed latex-ttf-fonts. With this
version, the mathematical symbols were displayed correct in the math mode.
Since I have updated to SuSE 9.0 and lyx 1.3.2, there is no correct math mode.
Of course, I have re-installed the latex-ttf-fonts

is enough (and restarting the X server also, I guess).

Try creating an empty file named ~/.lyx/xfonts/fonts.dir.
Then, run 'xset fp default', and then run lyx.
