When i viewed both with DVI and HTML, the image didn't show up. I checked by
creating an empty file using article class, inserting a small image. I can

Yes it's IEEE but unfortunately they don't use the IEEE
publication format.. I checked the list of IEEE conferences that use the

I latter found, that the problem was in the default configuration
of dvips, which does not have set 'type1_default=true' in

It was working fine until i tried to use wmf2eps and pasted some eps files etc
now on trying to run runlyx.bat i get the x windows screen a bash terminal

to footnotes... i read you can highlight normal text and then select the
insertfootnoe button to convert it to a foot note but it doesn't!! it
just inserts a blank foot note where the cursor is. Similaly I cannot

Awesome, everything you recommended worked great (that font directory was
indeed not in the path). (Actually one thing I noticed is that the greek
letters look skinnier/not as good now).
Is all of this in the lyx documentation somewhere? I had no idea about
any of this stuff.
