Actually they sold their engine business to Mosler and my understanding is they
went bankrupt on the rest of the business. I caught wind of the prototype
Cygnet in North Carolina that a bank in Arizona that financed HAPI owned from
the forclosure of their business that I could have acquired chea
Cannot relate these to my "IDIOT" book. Will keep checking,

I meet Rex Taylors son and daughter at Osh. the year I
lost my prop. They apologized thinking it was there
fathers fault(he had a bad batch of cranks in his
engines) I told them no need I had a prop strike about
a month before.

Lots has been said about engines type 1,2,3 or 4.
However, mine does not seem to fit either category.
I bought my engine from HAPI who were at the time located
in Eloy, AZ. Rex Taylor and family owned the shop.
They went out of business.I saw the engine briefly mentioned in a Mosler flyer.

Hapi didn't believe in stroker VWs at first until Steve Bennett was marketing
2180's and having them be a successful engine, What you have there is a stock
stroke VW with 94 MM cylinders and pistons and is a type 1 engine probably with
Mexican engine cases. Even back in thw 80s most aftermarket
It sounds very much like a type 1 there are a lot of them running around out
here in the desert like that in buggy's and after all it is a car engine.

The best way of telling if it is typ4 is the exhaust is on the
bottom
of the head (opposite the spark plugs) and the standard oil cooler and oil
filter are on the left hand side looking at the engine from the fan end. I
think the type one did not have an oil filter as stand
