"Nosedragger ", and many other comments from folks about my piloting
skills. I built it from the beginning to have positive steering and to
be retractable. Guess I had read enough stories to convince me that I

To Larry Flesner. My KR 2 is not on the list here, either, and it is
probably because it is registered as a Shaffer Rand, KR-2. That is how
the FAA Inspector, in Tulsa, wanted me to register it, as I had put it
on a tricycle retractable gear, and he did not considered it a Rand
Robinson KR-2.

I know of a builder in Springfield, Ohio, that built his KR with
Douglas fir. EAA Sport Aviation printed the test methods for testing
the Douglas fir, I think, in the 70's. Being stronger than Sitka
Spruce, the 5/8 inch longerons, stringers, etc, can be cut to 9/16
inch, but I think he cut his to 5
I made my own wing attach fittings. Having a drill index with 1/64th
spacing, drill the holes 3 or 4 sizes smaller than the finished hole.
Then , by 64ths of an inch, drill out the hole to the finished size.
This will get you to the best rounded hole you can get without a
reamer. John Shaffer N455J
