I worked with an aileron torque tube system for some time. I drew a sketch
of how it should work, built a crude wood system, built a system out of
4130 tube, decided it was too flexible, so ordered some heaver tubes.I
worked with it some more but was not satisfied with my bearing design so

I once flew a Piper Apache that had been modified for aerial surveys. The
back seats had been removed and in place was one small seat for the camera
operator. There was a large hole in the floor about 18" diameter with a
glass cover. In flight the cover was removed and the camera inserted into

Just returned home after a 5 day vacation. This afternoon I found myself in the
vicinity of Columbia SC so I made an impromptu visit with Dan Heath. I visited
with Dan for about 2 hours and I drooled all over his KR, especially the
canopy. Dan and Jerry have done themselves proud with their KR.

I used a control tube system for my elevator control and experimented

Do you still have the CAD file of your canopy hinges? Can they be plotted on

I was impressed with the Subaru when I first considered building a KR. About
that time I acquired my mothers car which was a Subaru. From what I had heard
the Soob had to rum at approximately 5000 RPM to develop its rated power and
torque. I don't think I ever ran my Soob at 5000 RPM. I figured

I went to Harbor Freight a few days ago to get some large diamoter drill

That night I was working on break pedals. I was drilling with one drill,
countersinking with another and using another for a screwdriver. I am

I wonder how many KRs have their elevators "biased" by the aileron cables,
and are trimmed out to compensate? I'll bet this is a major reason why some
KRs are fast, and others are "not so fast"...

You can get aircraft quality birch plywood from A/C Spruce or Wicks or any
other supplier. It is cheaper and heavier than Mahogany and I have used it.
I would not attempt to cut corners on plywood even on my tight budget.

I have used construction styrofoam on rebuilding my wings. I'm not sure if
this is the same type of styrofoam you are refering to but it works for me.
With styrofoam use only epoxy resin because styrofoam is not compatable with
other resins. Vinylester resin will disolve the styrofoam. Ken Ran
