Electric trim is a good system on the KR.It is a no brainer.Tommy W.
The Harley carbs are too big for the 1835 as I tried one.The throat is too
big but a smaller venturi model should do fine.
Also just solved a problem on my 2100 that somebody might
appreciate.Noticed a noise at idle rpm that got bad enough to check
out.Found the aluminum flywheel loose.Removed the
Netheads,The KR2S N58DR is on the market.Noel Breaux bought it last year
from Jim Hill.Noel loved it,flew it,and was finally taken from us this
month by cancer. He asked me to take care of the plane ang find a good
home for it.Noel called it Freebird. His widow is not so generous. If anyone
is intere
Mark, you are using XM weather on your trips ,right?Tommy W.
Don't know how many there are but I am privileged to have flown both types
successfully anyway. The Tri-gear is a much easier ground handler with over
the nose visiblity and directional stability. However, the taildragger is
still the best handling dragger in aviation.Tommy W.
Just a thought.Noel Breaux bought Jim Hill's N58DR and keeps it in
Pine Bluff. It's a tri-gear.When Noel was buying it,he asked if Jim could
put hand brakes on it.Jim said yes and it went from toe to
hand.Differential, left and right levers located between the pilot's
legs.Noel was injured in a bike
Mark Langford got me thinking after I saw his pics of the yarn on the
wings and his question.Well,I got some yarn and did some flight testing on
N995BG,a standard KR2 with stock wings and RR tips. This was the first
time.Unfortunately there is no documentation or pics but there were some
interesting
I'm hip to the danger invovled with this type of flying.Next time you have
a mouth full remember the ag pilot who had to fly under the wires on a
daily basis.Tommy W.
After 10 years of flying my fuselage sides started to pucker up.The ply
wood was not sealed well enough to hold up over the years.I stripped the
sides and bottom down to wood and applied one layer of deck cloth.Looks
good and has held up for five more years with no problems. Tommy W.
I'm with you.Flew N995BG today and although it didn't make sun and
fun, long story,it is good to know there are others out there.Phantoms
forever.Tommy W.
Lee,nice pics, reminds me of my flights out west.If you have not flown over
ths Superstition Mts or painted dessert put it on your list.Tommy W.
Hi guys,I worked on Noels KR2S,recently purchased from an original
builder, today and decided to pass on a little bit of info.Seems that the
timing on the electronic ignition was advancing in flight to the point it
had to be turned off. After removing the unit from the engine and
disassembling it,I f
Just returned from Oshkosh in N995BG.Left Thur.after waiting on the front
to come thru.Well worth the wait.Flew into Fon du lac, parked, camped, and
enjoyed friday at oshkosh.Saw Bill Clapp fly his bird and got a chance to
say hi to some KR people.Good times.Bill asked me a question that stuck
with me
Jim,count me in.Tommy W.
Mark,Way to go.You can be my wing man antime!Tommy W.
Dan,I had similar experience with my EFS2.It would fly the same way.Didn't
make any difference in needle position but could not get it quite rich
enough.I experimented with filter arrangements and eventually got it
right.Air flow appears to be the answer. At least for me and my
installation.Enjoy th
OK,Just a few thoughts.Jim gave the definative description of KR
tecnique. But I noticed some are not sure.Using P-51 numbers and barndoor
flaps works for Navy pilots on carrier landings.Remember this is a KR.If
your looking at the end of the runway, your not in a taildragger.Keep it
simple.Mine will
Update on my Avid/VW spinner install.I just had crow for supper.Kinda
chewy but I don't mind sharing some with the net.Seems my opinion, screws
optional on the front bulkhead was, well, wrong! After 5 hours of test
flying,I noticed my vibration slowly returning. So slowly as to not even
notice.Someone s
Mark,Good job.Welcome to the club.Tommy W.
Steve, check for broken vavle spring.Doesn't happen often but I had a
couple break on me.Sometimes hard to spot the first time.Tommy W.
Installed a fiberglass spinner on the Avid/VW.After 2 hours there was
galling inside the spinner at the forward bulk.A slight vibration was
noted at high rpm.Shimmed with tape and no vibration,no galling.Every
preflight inspection includes prop and spinner.Screws optional.Fly Safe

Got an EFS2 Ellison carb thatI just can't get rich enough on my 2100.Will
trade it for a Revflow or make off.Tommy
Interested in the carb?Let me know at blind...@seark.net or 870-535-3294
Thanks,Tommy Waymack
Good news on the paperwork.Tommy W.
Tommy Waymack,Netheads I got a KR story if youre interested.Concerns
getting to the Gathering.I have been keeping up with the krnet and enjoy
the tails, just think I should contribute something.Yeah I'm going to the
gathering.But its been a stuggle.Tommy
I'm learning to use the krnet so please forgive the mistakes.Really don't
know where to start so I'll just start by saying anything I say maybe
Wrong.
The gathering of 1990 Rough River,Kentucky was my first.Flew in there with
N995BG after a year or so of work on a project I bought from Bruce
Gillin
Now fast foward to 2001 Gathering.N995BG has just gone through a 2year
refurb consisting of firewallforward 2100 Revmaster [used],fuselage strip
with deckcloth applied,new paint scheme,dual control,electric trim,fixed
landing gear mod,and the terrorists attack New York.Lets say we are all
