Mine is 565 empty, 875 gross. I'd guess you can knock 80 lbs off of that
easily just by sticking to the plan layup schedule. Mine has the entire
boat wrapped in a layer, multiple layers on the wings. It also has GPAS
1776 with full electrics, good for another 30 or 40 lbs.

This won't help you, as my KR1 buffets at 62 mph.(53 kts). Haven't taken
it into full stall yet. That was with retracts down. Plane is pretty much
to plans, tho heavy (785 lbs) as flown. It now has fixed gear, but it's
not back in the air yet. Someday...

I don't have the HAPI manual, but timed mine (Diehl adapter and electronic
ign) to 28btdc @ 3000 rpm. No idea where it is at idle, but it starts
right away.

So, my KR 2 (less engine) wieghed in at 331 (276 on mains, 55 on t/w). My
engine weighs 182 (center of mass 11.5" forward of mounts). Can anyone

For the third time in 2 years, I had to remove the diaphragm and unstick

I am trying to find cht probes that will fit under the plug on my VW. So
far everything I have found has an offset connector that will not fit into
the spark plug well.

I'm considering an alternative engine for my KR 2, but it would require
lowering the thrust alignment to about 3 inches below the longerons. Other
than the obvious impact to prop diameter, does anyone have any experience
with this, or know of the not so obvious downsides?

I just finished a KR 1 with retract, and am still building a KR 2, also
with retract. Having read ML's opinions many times, I just decided to go
original, 'cause that is what fired my interest when I was 17(now north of
60). Now to a question for those still having retracts, or have flown
them:
I used the Hirsch coating on my KR 1 (fiberglass tanks) about 6 weeks ago.
Sloshed easily, used about 1/2 quart total in three tanks, and yes,
rotating the outer wings was a joy. I replaced all the fittings with
plugs, but couldn't find anything that would stay in the vent tubes, as the
