First, thanks for all the W&B answers from my last post. My engine is
hung, and didn't tip over when I removed the hoist, and while I have not
re-weighed, I know it will be manageable from here. Now back to my new
dilemma, and that would be as follows:
I chose the Aeromomentum AM 13 with custom gearing for my fan turner, and
have the opportunity to use an in flight adjustable prop-probably an
IvoProp 2 blade at 54" dia (adjusts from 30-90" pitch). So here is the
question for the group: My intended mission is cross country, do you see
any real benefit in the ability to vary pitch in flight (I have zero
experience with such a convenience). The inflight adjustment capability
adds about 8 lbs to the prop-not really a problem at this stage.

Second question may be entertaining in the answers, but I am particularly
interested in hearing from those who have actually flown the retracts. I
built with retracts, and have spent considerable time on "proper fairings",
because that is what I dreamed about since I was 17 or so (now 62). Now
I'm thinking that the higher gross weight seemingly available with fixed
gear, specifically the Diehl package from NVAero, might be a better route.
Yes Mark, I have read your dissertation a hundred times...yet I doubt. The
retracts are rated @900lbs, but I desire a gross closer to 1080...

I welcome all opinions, all 800 of you.
