To KR NET,
I have decided to give up building an airplane. I just cant possibly do
it with school, pilot training and a full-time job. Anyways I have:
Wing Spars complete (RAF48) done with perfection, full photo's of their
building.

Thanks for the support but it isnt that im giving up. Im simply realizing
that in my life right now I dont have the time for building an airplane.
Even beyond that, I need an IFR bird for the hours.
The thing that really eats me alive of the KR is the wood work, if my
wood work was complete on
An RV is an expensive airplane but an awsome airplane.
I feel after im done with all this training and I have a good paying
stable job I will take some courses of wood working and such. I love the KR,
there is no other airplane in it's speed class that can be built as cheap as
a KR. Like you s
I see no harm in that.

Solo X/C to big bear. For those who arent familar with the LA basin the
airport is just under 7000'msl. I have flown there in a 150 in the past and
had no problems what so ever, but one particualar time I got some downdrafts
on my way up, the plane stuck at about 5,000MSL refusing to climb anymore.
Doug,
Do you have pictures of your KR. Im intrested in seeing a tandem KR.

Using some common performance #'s for the KR2 this is what i came up with.
With an 1835 VW you can expect 110mph burning 3.5GPH which equals to
31MPG
With a O-164 corvair (100hp) you could expect about 170mph burning 5.6
giving 30MPG.
Is it worth 150FPM? What if you run into some unex
Brian,
I am intrested in your Diehl gear legs. Are they still avail? I am ready
to buy them if they are. Shouldn't be but a few weeks before I will be able
to sit my KR on the legs, The spars are done.

Thats too bad Mark =(. Since I dont have a WW manual yet, is 1/4" 6061-T6
what the manual suggest to make the starter mount? I would surely like to
know if what was recommended is not strong enough, far in advance before
flight.

You guys are both right. An RV is nothing less than an awsome airplane. It's
only comparision to a KR is that it's an airplane, they are in a different
class (not literly). The RV while being roomy and fast cost a whole lot more
to build than a KR and not to mention the fuel burn is about double.
Although alittle off subject about your orginal question, I just want to
throw this in. The Mazda Rotary engine is a without doubt awsome engine. My
dad drives an RX-7 (13B engine) and it is sucha silk smooth engine. If it
wasnt for the RPM buzzer there is no doubt that you will go into and exceed
Just wondering but why would people Counter-balance their elevators because
of a bigger engine when you still can not exceed the VNE of 200mph?

Im sure you will have a high fuel consumption on that engine, im wondering
what it is. I bet 8GPH on the 100HP engine. 2-strokes drink gas but are
super light. It's so light you might even run into CG problems.
As far as the Jabiru goes, I have seen and heard the 80Hp verson and
it's a smooth
How critical is it to make sure both ends of an elevator is balanced evenly.
Mean one side of the balance being heavier than the other but still 100%
balanced elevator.

Please correct me if im wrong but octane is the rating which dictates the
flash point, at what temprature the fuel will explode... early and late.
Adjusting the mixture can only offer a limited amount of cover-up for this.
For different octanes the timing will need to be different. So if im right

The orginal design has been around for years and years and still going
strong. There was two KR2S's in my hanger, one slighty ahead of the other.
One had the plywood skins on the 2 flat sides and the other didnt yet. When
it came time to join the 2 sides, the plywood creaked and fought very hard

Hey Group,
Been a long time with no posts from me, yay. I made the plywood sheer web

aligning the HS perfect?
Also there is a KR2 in the boat stage that just moved into my EAA 96
hanger, if your on the list please
