Hi Mike.
You want to lay the glass at 45 degrees to the long edge you are covering.
A layup will tend to pucker up when just going straight up and over tighter
radius'

lf-locking nuts here and that if the bolt was reversed, and the nut did up
on the rod end bearing side of the flap actuaror, that a castellated nut
would be used instead.
I am not trying to be a "Smarty Pants", just a little confused as I saw this

what you would use. The fact that the bolts have a hole probably just means
the previous owner didn't have the correct bolt lengths on hand without

in the sun for a few hours until it thinned out again. You can also immerse
the container in hot water for a while.
