The menu at the bottom/or up, or left, or right, as somebody wants

Hi Guix,
I installed Trisquel with MATE Desktop in a qemu/virtual machine.
I checked if in Caja, the file manager in MATE, it is possible to change
the background.
In the Menu bar it is the second option: "edit"
Then choose "backgrounds/emblems" (almost on the bottom of the
possibilities)
Hi Roman,
Thank you very much for your issue tracker report.
It is very exactly explained.

Hi Roman,
a second thing that does not work in MATE desktop, which worked
earlier in other distros. I don´t know if that works in Trisquel because
I haven´t installed Trisquel with MATE desktop on an other laptop.

Hi Roman,

It looks like
the issue has not been reported yet with the Guix issue tracker.
Could you report it on a Guix issue tracker
because I don´t know how to do that?
For the moment I have a solution
because I got help form Luis Felipe and others.
So I install

Hi Roman,
I do not think that it refers to the style of writing named "Sans".
Instead, it must be referring to the font,
Yes of course, I meant "font"
I expressed myself incorrectly, sorry.
It seems that "Sans" is a
default font in MATE.
I don´t know. I also don´t know how to find that o

Hi,
thanks for helping me.
As Luis wrote I also don´t have a separate list of "Greek alphabet" in
the left panel.
But if I write: "greek" in the search panel
then the greek alphabet comes up.
The second method, as you described, put e.g.0370 in my search
panel/Ctrl+F it comes up the greek c

Hi Luis,
thanks very much. You saved me a lot of time.
I had the ancient greek spelling checker in Libreoffice installed
already, but it didn´t work.

Hi,
Is this under X or Wayland? Please see if the eyes in 'xeyes' follow
your mouse. In X, you can try something like
xrandr --output VGA-1 --auto --left-of LVDS-1
xrandr will tell you the names of all available outputs when you run
it without arguments.

Hi,
thanks for your thoughts.
I would like to stay with GNU Guix if possible,
but it takes a lot of time at the moment,
and I am not pleased with it, because I don’t want to spend all my spare
time with hacking Guix.
If I manage to install several (may be 3) Desktops

You are right. For better or for worse, Guix is a speciality distribution.

Hi,
thanks for help.
The link above has instructions. I think you can select the Classic
view via the little session gear in the GDM login screen.
I didn’t see any link above, only underneath for gnome-classic.
I remember from an earlier distro, that I looked at gnome-classic,

Hi,
Have you tried switching into regular X.org (or into Wayland) using
the little sessions sprocket in the GDM login screen?
There is no possibility to do that.
I have got 2 options:
login to MATE or login to ENLIGHTENMENT Desktop.
that’s all.
Kind regards

even during starting it is recognised, but after the secon

may wish to wait for more responses before making such a drastic
change.

There are surely others besides you. (For example, I think the Linux
creator may use it, although not on Guix.) It would make sense to wait
for more responses before you take any drastic act
Have you tried clearing gdm's cache? I think something like rm -rf ~/.cache/gdm
might solve the issue. I'm not sure for your other questions.

Is there a way to repair gdm
