The “blank split” or “blank transaction” is a location in the register for you
to enter a new transaction. Its location depends a bit on a couple of
preference settings and whether you have future transactions in the register.
The preference settings most recent at the top or bottom, default bei
How about a "Notes" entry of " (FINDME)" and then you
could search for FINDME?

There is always an empty transaction entry at the bottom of each account.

Hello Flavio,
Yes, it is normal behaviour you must have created the original transaction
with splits in the VT account I assume. When I create split transactions in
an account, for instance bank account and two splits for things I want to
keep separate in Repairs and Maintenance, they are going to
Can someone direct me to the best place for me to find out how to increase
the font size of the register. I would like to make it larger and possibly
bold.
Thanks,

I don't know about your broker setup, but here, the cash values are kept in
a "sweep" fund that is also a stock. My "cash" fund is actually a mutual
fund that keeps the price stable at USD 1.00. But it ought to work with a
bank type also, I would think.

Hi John.
Thanks - you finally identified the cause of my issue.
I'll try to set up my accounts differently, so that I will have both the
"USD Cash" and the "VT" account under a placeholder account which is
denominated in USD.
Thanks,

Is there a way to permanently highlight a specific transaction in the

I am aware of the search facility.
Thanks in advance.

In one of my accounts, which I have saved, closed, etc. Whenever I open
it again there is a "transaction" in there with nothing in it. I've
tried all the obvious things, delete the transation, etc., which seems
to work since I can close the account, but it is there when I open the
account agai
Are you trying to delete the "blank split"?
You can't do that -- it's your point-of-entry for new data. It doesn't
actually exists, it's there for you to create new entries. Therefore, you
cannot delete it.
Did you change the settings to not have the blank split at the end of the
register?

Thanks for the suggestion Maf, but not quite what I am looking for, I want
a transaction's cells in a line of colour so that it stands out from all
the others.

I am in the a/c. I put it off until 'later' an then this happened.
So, maybe I did 'blank split' whatever the hell that is or was.

Hi,
I may not have expressed it clearly. I was fully expecting the tests to fail
when
GNC_DATA_HOME is set. So I thought you had it set.
I did apply a fix shortly after your first message. If you are capable of
building gnucash
from source, you may want to try to build from the current stable
At IBKR it's a classic bank account, as it also yields a tiny bit of
interest.

A financial gain on the paintings, yes, but here in the US whether it's a
taxable event if other paintings were purchased with the money is about the art

Flavio,
There’s one more little wrinkle that seems to be evading you. When you create a
multi-commodity transaction the transaction has a currency that’s determined by
the account of the register you start in (or the first currency-denominated
parent if the register is for a non-currency commod
