In an effort to demonstrate Lynx (ie - a text web browser) on Dos as a
viable, fast and fun option, I created a boot img to do so and squirreled
it away in the forgotten tunnels of the gophernet where I hope it shall
only be found by people who will not unduly pester me.

Doug Kaufman's web page is still up, but his Lynx is pretty old:
The latest DOS port of lynx is 2.8.

Even, if it will - the days when we could use Lynx for browsing Web contents
are long gone. Java everywhere... :( and even without this if site's pages

I have a former IBM engineer who builds and maintains all of my computers

There was a specific lynx package written by dug Kaufman that I may request

Worth it for me as presently I do all of my Internet work via ssh telnet

May I ask what djgpp is exactly?
I was about to ask on the Lynx developers list about an updated DOS
package.
will this if properly configured run under dos?

If you have an old computer and want to put it to good use, FreeDOS with

My question is: What advantage(s) links/elinks
have over lynx (I ask just about their DOS ports,
not versions for other OS'es)?
I did not yet find any, on the contrary, lynx has
had https/ssl capability for the last 10 years,

I recall there was some discussion about this a little while back, but did
not follow the conclusion.
I have the network setup just fine, the interest is creating a watpcp.cfg
file that lets lynx be fine.
better still a package that incorporates this, so I can input what I
require in the file.
BTW, how did you detect what messages Lynx sent? neither
-trace nor -wdebug options seem to log protocol IDs.
I use wireshark packet sniffer and recommend it highly.
