I now try to create a child manually by jail(8), but I cant even set
children.max in the parent.
In host:

Hi all,
is it possible to create children of jails, managed by ezjail, which are also
managed by ezjail?
Can the basejail of the parent be used for that?
Can I just set children.max and ezjail_jaildir ?
I just need the children to install different versions of some packages.
I did not succeed

A while ago I discovered that jails installed as purely binary jails
(where /usr/src is not installed) using ezjail can never be upgraded.
This led to a lot of investigation where I also discovered that
freebsd-update can not update a jail from the host. This means

Looks like you need to create the jail first. Use the -c parameter to jail.
However I suggest to configure your jails with either a tool like ezjail
or at least start the jails with the /etc/rc.d/jail script.

ezjail uses the rc.conf jail parameters and needs to be updated to use
the native jail(8) parameters. Until that gets done ezjail only works
with 9.

The problem is further complicated by the fact that there are jails I have
