@Chris if there is only one user on the computer wouldn't it be logical that they changed the system settings when changing their themes. In Gutsy (Evolution 2.12.1) the arrow keys only work in combination with SHIFT, which is better than nothing but not ideal. So, 'SHIFT-right' opens a mail thread, and 'SHIFT-left' closes it.
