I open evince just like you: from the command line with the name of a non-existing file as parameter (e.g. 'evince blah'). I then get a separate 'Evince Document Viewer' window with a yellow box below the menu bar that says: "Unable to open document", with a subtitle "Unknown MIME Type". See also the attached screenshot.
Maybe you use a different version? I have evince 2.22.2 using poppler 0.6.4 (cairo), from the Ubuntu Hardy repositories. ** Attachment added: "Screenshot.png" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/17000723/Screenshot.png -- Evince reports 'unknown mime type' if file does not exist https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/260355 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
