now I can't seem to find it anywhere.

You can have multiple versions of gcc on the system with no problems at
all. Plain old "gcc" will always refer to 2.95, and nothing will get
confused. If you want to use a newer gcc, like 3.0, you'll run "gcc-3.0"
instead. So everything is kept nice and clean.

~/.xsession-errors? You might also try wiping all the GNOME related
hidden directories in your home dir and starting fresh if

before, but if I just run ifconfig it only shows my local loopback

OK, got it - the newer XFS patches don't use that syntax anymore. You
now need to pass "rootflags=quota" at the boot prompt.
At least it wasn't all that obvious - the new syntax doesn't seem to
mentioned anywhere besides the XFS mailing lists.

Apt only knows about packages sourced in /etc/apt/sources.list. You can
install the package manually with dpkg -i filename, or add the appropriate
cd source line to /etc/apt/sources.list. See sources.list(5) for the syntax.

I'm trying to install Debian on my laptop with a Microsolutions 164700
model CD Rom.
This CD attaches to the laptop via the parallel port.
When I get to the part of the install that tries to load the kernel to
the hard disk, it can't find the CD-ROM

Have not found any debs, but I downloaded the precompiled linux binarys
from the pine home site and they work fine. Just called then pine420, pico420
and pilot420, so far they work great and 4.20 has neat color which 4.10 didn't.

Part of the install of a new kernel calls a utility to make a new boot
floppy, does anyone know exactly what function is used for that,
as I want to make a couple of spare boot disks, just in case, since I
boot strictly from floppy and do not use lilo or any other boot manager.
