Hello list,
I've just set up my first x86 Debian system after practising with it on
my Amiga (m68k) - gone pretty smoothly too, due to this, and the m68k
lists. However...
I'm using a PS2 mouse via /dev/psaux and I'm not using gpm (I had the
fairly common 'X' problems that I've seen posted often
Hello list,
I need to compile my own kernels to enable SMP and get SCSI support for
my card so, after consulting the HOWTO and reading some recent postings
about kernel compiling, what I've been doing is:
1. Rename/move my existing (/usr/src/) kernel-source-x.x.x,

Hello Eric,
Do you have any details on the video card? especially, how much RAM it
has on it? As you are already getting a text display, I think that you
are already effectively using a vga resolution and one of the standard
vga modes (640x480) should work, but you may be trying to use a greater

Hello List,
I'm planning to put a Debian SMP system together for the new Vn of the

like to be able to run the new unstable. What I'd like to do is to
have three installations:- 1 x potato, that I know will always work,
and two fo

Dunno about expert, but I have some experience in this area. The P4,
having a long pipeline, is more suited to streaming type processing: the
pipeline has to be 'full' before it'll give peak performance. I think
that most of the s/w that supports the new clever bits in the P4 are
