t the sync and refresh rates for your *exact*
monitor, either from the monitor's manual or the manufacturer's website.
Run "anXious" (check "anXious --help" for the options to let you
manually setup the card/monitor, otherwise it "guesses" for you). Enter
the sync and refresh rates by hand.

You need to use "dpkg" to install it now that it's already downloaded.
"dpkg -i filename.deb" will do it.

As for X, I've tried "xset led 1" up through 20 with no luck (the
command shown may not be correct, but I believe when I was trying it, I
was doing it right -- at least I got no error messages).

Are there boot images available for Debian that incorporate setting up
reiserfs partitions from the beginning, i.e. selecting reiserfs as the
partition type during an installation ??
If not, is anyone aware of another distro that can do this ??
