Actually WordPerfect only requires the libc5 version, xpm4.7. It also
requires libc5 and xlib6, so you should install them also.

Yeah, WordPerfect 7 seems to use UTC, since if I use the date function
after 5 p.m., it shows the following day. Oh, well.

You can also find newer versions of Debian slink (stable) packages in
proposed-updates or at places like (put this in /etc/apt/sources.listg):
deb http://ftp.netgod.net/ x/
You will find X 3.3.3 here, for instance.

You need to run your text through a filter. The printing HOWTOs

That's a typical symptom of having a libc5 version of netscape on a libc6

I couldn't find it either, but created /etc/init.d/local (and ran

It should be started by /etc/init.d/netbase, which is a symlink from the

2. R

If you think upgrading Red Hat is easy, Debian is even easier:

WordPerfect is built with libc5. You need to install the following
libc5 packages: xlib6, libc5, xpm4.7

Upgrade to the potato libc6, which includes timezones.

Why not use the apt method with dselect and get the advantages of both.

If it's a serial mouse, you don't need to do anything with the
installation. Just run XF86Setup and choose the corresponding pointer
device.

Typically you mount it to /cdrom, 'mount -t iso9660 /dev/hdc /cdrom'.

You cannot mount two partitions to the same mount point. I'd recommend
something like:
numbering (see
/usr/doc/kernel-package/README.gz). If you use:
make-kpkg --revision=1:custom.1.0 kernel-image
you can avoid this in the future. Putting it on hold works, however.

icewm and icewm-gnome will put the Debian menu system in its menu under
"Programs", so you can use update-menus.

ckages, and I have never built a kernel under Debian.
Hmmm, I thought that the installation did that, but I haven't an
installed kernel-source package to check. If you have kernel-source, you
don't need the kernel-headers (with hamm you did).

You will need to set it up on the remote computer for NFS.

Telnet and telnetd are now separate packages. The upgrade notes
mentioned this. If you install them, telnet should be
discounted to $75 until mid-July and they
still offer a 30-day free trial evaluation license. You need to re-run
the install script when upgrading kernels, since it installs some
modules. I'm running potato/kernel 2.2.9 and am about to dump my Win95
partition and mount /home in that space.
