The problem with using dpkg is that you may not satisfy the
dependencies.  

This looks more cumbersome than it really is, but should work: 

1.  Add the unstable entry to /etc/apt/sources.list
2,  Run 'apt-get update'
3.  Run 'apt-get install <packagename>'
4.  Comment out the unstable entry in sources.list
5.  Run 'apt-get update'
