I guess I should have been more specific about this problem. I installed
FreeBSD 3.0 to see if it would connect, but it didn't either. Here are the
details;
1. I have MS Network. The local provider provides the IP address.

1) /usr/lib/games/nethack/nethack should be chmod-ed 2755, owned by root
and belonging to group games. I suspect this is where your problem lies.
/usr/games/nethack is just a wrapper shell script to execute the nethack
binary.

IN order to use audio CD's with debian you need to add yourself
to two groups. First the audio group to get access to /dev/dsp
etc so you can hear sound. Secondly you need to be part of the
disk group to get access to disks other than the linux partions.

It's a single program; there aren't packages. And it has it's own
yuckky windows-like "desktop", and is confined to a sin

I'll be setting up a network between my linux box and 2 other
machines for a cable modem. I hear that there are some network cards
that just don't work for linux. Crazy I know, but that's the rumour.
Does any one know off any cards I should avoid or any they would
recomend? Thanks.
I recently picked up an old (circa 1986) Digital, DEC VSXXX-AA mouse. I
picked it up because it didn't use a track ball, but rather an horizontal
and vertical roller on the underside. It look kinda like it had a PS/2
connection, but it doesn't. What are the odds I could get this to work on
