if You see the `LI' without the LO at boottime this assumes:
The second part(step) of the LILO was not loaded, however.
mostly the problem is:
defekt disk-geometry or
unexpected moving of `/boot/boot.b'
Maybe in Your case it depends on a incompatibility of the usage of
a adaptec with a ncr(or other controller) formatted drive ?
If possible switch to Your first controller and figure out if
this change solve the problem, if so
You have to reformat and reinstall Your Debian, however the
adaptecs are very strange.
I have had a similar problem while changing a adaptec 1542 C
to adaptec 2940 AU.
result was I must reformat my drives and reinstall Linux
Adaptec is really groovy, isn't it ?  ;-(
if not boot from disk and try a new lilo-configuration.
