xawtv.
Now I want to record TV program using producer. I have to exit xawtv
and there's no sound when recording using producer.
producer complains that capture buffer is empty.

modules are autoloaded at boot.
After investigation, I conclued this is due to "v4l" module.

- bttvgrab which crashes after start with a segfault lots of times.
After trying several times, it works but can write only single pictures
or one big file in a propriatary file format (i.e. no mjpeg avi)

one of the via/bttv problems i have noticed was that when alot of data is
transferred while watching tv, the machine would freeze up. Good example would
be trying to decompress large archive

Works fine here with 2.0.32, X 3.3.2 , Matrox MilleniumII.
I had some problems with X 3.3.1 (screen locked). ATI Mach 64 was also OK,
S3 Trio64 was not. I guess you have a problem with your X-Server or Card.

Whenever I start it, I get some snow and after a few seconds my computer
locks. Furthermore, the lines that *are* displayed are only the first
few lines, and it appears that the program is receiving SCERR
