If you're not afraid to do a little gruntwork (doesn't sound so, it won't be worse than what you've done until now :-P), head over to the DRI project at http://dri.sourceforge.net/ and have a look at the downloads section. There's a short description on how to get more recent drivers, but check if those work with XFree 4.1.0 before doing anything. Support for XVideo seems to have moved into the ATI drivers not until recently, so you might get lucky there. If you've still got any problems, you can check the output of both glxinfo and xvinfo. You should also check if it's possible for you to upgrade to XFree 4.2 (it's in testing) since it's got several driver improvements included. I don't know however how difficult this would be. > - OTOH if I disable 3D acceleration I can have the TV. Getting xawtv to scale properly can be done by setting it to "grabdisplay" in the right-click menu when XVideo is working ("Capture" setting). But it switches back each time you change channels. Scaling won't work in overlay mode. The rather massive slowdown can be considered normal since your TV card is just clobbering the bus with image data. - -- Embedded Linux -- True multitasking!
