that installs have been done by downloading a rescue image and mounting
this in /dev somewhere, however, the essential details of how todo this
are lacking. How can I install from a working rh installation without
using cdrom or more than 1 floppy ?

Don't forget to set the bootdev to to the HD you're setting up.

u need the
mouse working on text-mode consoles, remove gpm and let X handle the
mouse by itself.
I've had two different laptops using the same style mouse and they've
both worked quite well.

em, but most of the time you can
copy/paste by selecting the text in the first application, then clicking
the middle mouse button in the second application. This works for me
across most applications.
