out that line is what made the modem start working again. Though if anyone here kows for sure and for certain *why* commenting out that line lets the modem work, I would certainly be interested to know. Even if for no other reason than mere curiosity. > On Wed, 20 Sep 2000, Mike Werner wrote: >

windows is more advanced in defragmenting because it has been needed a _lot_ more than on unix. On windows, it is common to defrag daily or weekly. On unix, it is common to never do it, or to have it happen to be done yearly or so from replaced/upgraded drives. Mike -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". only problem may come from eth0 pointing to the pcmcia card when the laptop is docked, your net scripts will get confused... If you load pcmcia last, you probably won't have trouble. know the location of your root partition, and you can find a Mandrake CD or something that works similarly, the CD has a self-contained installation on it, allowing you to mount filesystems and determine which one's the root. > thanks a lot for any tip. No prob. Hope this does the trick.
