It was a joke. In your original email, you did not provide enough context to determine what could have been the cause of the noise. Frank suggested that maybe the source of your noise was that your tea kettle was whistling. From the amount of information you originally presented, that was as good of an answer as any. Well, all right, it was definitely outside the domain of debian-laptop, but that was intentional in order to emphasize the lack of information.
