Any pointers? Either using the modem built into the

cannot be loaded, because the irq an adress of the FIR Chip is occupated by

This is confusing to me, too. But there is no difference, what
dmesg shows as ttyS03 is the device /dev/ttyS3 ,
see InfraRed-HOWTO ;-)

Hi,
after reading this thread I decided to once again try to get IrDA running on my
laptop.
I tried to find out which device it is using and got the following output:
$ dmesg | grep tty
ttyS00 at 0x03f8 (irq = 4) is a 16550A
ttyS03 at 0x02e8 (irq = 3) is a 16550A
ttyS1: LSR safety check

setserial should be applied to *real* serial devices, like
/dev/ttySx , also it's only neccessary in some rare cases.
You didn't mention the configuration of /etc/irda.conf ,
set the SIR device etc. there and restart IrD
Hello,
I don't find out to verify if my IrDA port works
on my Nec VERSA VX1 notebook :-|
it's unabled in the bios and the ttyS3 is then discovered.
The modules are lauch, the devices seem ok

Hi all !
Thx for your support Paolo and Juraj ! I've got it working now :)
Mainly it stated working after using:
setserial /dev/ttyS2 irq 3, and
using the smc-ircc kernel module for the irda chip
I can even use gprs to fetch eMails, now :)))

Hello,
I had a similar problem with Nokia Phones and Compaq Armada M700.
Someone on the Irda mailing list told me to do
setserial /dev/ttyS2 irq 3
After that irdadump started to work with all the other stuff (even a
Nokia 6310 with ppp on GPRS connection is now working...:-) )
Hope this help
