"battery info" shows the battery is 100% charged. If I boot the computer up

to complement my studying I decided to resurrect an old laptop which is a
Dell Inspiron 2200 with a Intel Celeron M processor. The hard

connected to the router.
If I perform "ifdown wlan0" and "ifup wlan0", the network usually starts up

I had the same sort of setup on my thinkpad. I used partition magic to
shrink the current partition that has WIN xP installed down first, then
I installed linux. If you're not good with linux (n00b), then RedHat

in the ifplugd manuals to help me on this.

used Knoppix 3.2, I had working Linux on the machine in 20 minutes. I
haven't tested the PCMCIA, yet, but everything important, except the DVD, has
worked so far.

but wlanctl-ng doesn't
believe it. While the comments in linux-wlan-ng-pre-up say that modprobe
could be used in place of wlanctl-ng for the first error, when I do that,
other errors show up.
What am I missing? It seems like I'm just one step from getting this to work.

x runs fine, but i when i switch to a virtual terminal ctrl alt f1, ctrl
