If you would like Debian unstable, it is easy: Install Knoppix following this page and its links: http://www.knoppix.net/docs/index.php/FaqInstall Change the /etc/apt/sources.list to point to local *.deb file sources! Then convert to unstable following this page: http://www.knoppix.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2251&highlight= With a fast internet connection, you'll be done in an hour or two. I fought with the Debian installer trying to get Debian on my laptop. It asked me all of these questions that weren't answered in the manuals. When I used Knoppix 3.2, I had working Linux on the machine in 20 minutes. I haven't tested the PCMCIA, yet, but everything important, except the DVD, has worked so far. Peter A.
