I believe this is an overstrike or "fake bolding" issue. With such tiny
fonts, it is essential to disable xterm's auto bolding feature, for
example in ~/.Xresources as follows:
*xterm.allowBoldFonts: false
*vt100.allowBoldFonts: false
or alternatively set your bold font to match your normal font,

I took the upstream
/usr/share/fonts/X11/misc/fonts.alias is the culprit and needs to be
updated with modern UCS / UTF8 / UTF-8 / ISO10646-1 alias defaults.
The problem is that this file specifies as default font alias, for
example:
6x10 -misc-fixed-medium-r-normal--10-100-75-75-c-60-iso8859-1
Note the "iso8859-1"

Dear Maintainer,
There doesn't appear to be any init script included in the
package. While it's not hard to create one it does mean every
user re-inventing the wheel.

Hello, and sorry for the late reply.

this bug makes the default latexila-3.14.0-1 package from jessie unusable

I do not see how that would render it unusable, are you unable to edit

Dear maintainer,
your package failed on buildds while rebuilding against libicu57, only
on some architectures.

Dear Maintainer,
would it be possible to load libsmbclient dynamically like libdvdread4 does with
libdvdcss? That would avoid installing samba-libs if there's no Samba network.
vlc, for example, separates this functionality with a plugin.

One thing I'm not sure of is whether it's right to use the binary
