I also had instasegfaulting this morning (probably not directly related)
- I got control of the situation by downgrading to a working version via
snapshots:

http://snapshot.debian.org/package/icedove/44.0~b1-1/#icedove_44.0:7e:b1-1

wget'd the packages I had installed
sudo dpkg -i *.deb

Started up Icedove then did the excellent workaround courtesy of Kyle
Bentley (advanced config editor):

javascript.options.baselinejit = false

Then got back at a normal install via sudo aptitude full-upgrade

Hopefully Icedove will Just Work for you at this point.
