For item 1, I update grub-common and grub-pc to 1.98+20100720-1 and then

I have no error message, Grub detects two HDD and the system reboot well

I usually fix this in HTML using a SPAN or DIV with DIR="LTR" for the Latin
text.
Not sure if we could use a Unicode control character to do this for D-I
messages.
