Thanks, Tim and Neil for your help addressing my wheel pilot problem.
Neil's manual was the correct one for the 4000+. My actuator didn't have
the ball bearings that Tim described. Once I got the actuator off the
wheel and opened it, I found a bad belt.. A new belt from eBay for $22

I had mine apart late last year and was successful in replacing the clutch
lever and clutch eccentric, getting it back together, and operational.
Symptoms were "catching" sound in the until and no positive "feel" for
whether it was engaged or disengaged. The wheel didn't hang up but a couple

Has anyone on the list taken the Wheel Pilot Actuator apart? On the way to
the starting line last week, the steering was catching on something inside
the Wheel Pilot Actuator, I opted to not race for fear that the steering
would lock up during the race. Previous to this happening, the clutch

If you haven't already, try cleaning the contacts on the control head. My
old ST4000 started acting up and this fixed it.

I have a peculiar problem, My ST4000+ display no longer displays my rudder
indicator, altho it still seems to be wired in ok.
Also, my heading was locked in at 243 degrees. This makes my little boat on
the chart plotter point to 243 degrees, and I cannot use the autopilot. When I
try that, it

Is it possible that your GPS is set to show True heading, while the fluxgate
is showing Magnetic? Ten degrees west variation is probably about right,

I have just done my turns to calibrate my fluxgate, and when I correct it
down 10 degrees to agree with my GPS heading shown on my i70 Display, that
heading drops 10 degrees. So between the two of them, I am always 10 degrees
off. I think I am now around 40 degrees low, by the time I figured what w

I believe what you are describing as "dial in" is called a deviation check
on the fluxgate compass. You need to do very slow circles (counter

Hi Derek,
Don't get rid of the LCD control unit if that is still working. You can buy a
new wheel on ebay as another lister mentioned. That's because when the LCD
drive unit fails, you have to buy a new wheel, new fluxgate compass, new LCD
monitor (which requires a bigger hole) and a "compute
