Black staining in teak where the finish has been removed should be treated with
oxalic acid which is also known as wood bleach. It removes the stains.

Don’t use steel wool, brass wool instead – no rusting.

Hi Andy,
That is where I am (at EGYC). Expresso is still on the hard just
across the street from the club house. She's easy to spot as she is the
only brown sailboat on the bay. She is in the second row from the back.

Thanks for all you wonderful input. I have decided to go with Epiphanes
Rubbed Effect Satin Varnish. I've always had good luck with the Epiphanes
Gloss varnish for the exterior. My first choice was the MinWax Satin
Marine Varnish, but I couldn't find any around here. Wish me luck.
Thanks,

I would not go super-fine when sanding between coats of a poly finish.
Poly does not adhere to itself very well at all, and needs some tooth
available. Poly is viscous enough to fill and eliminate any fine
scratches in the final coats, anyway.

I asked the question to many of the pros I know and the consensus was still
to use Epiphanes for floorboards and exterior. Other options were all
traditional varnishes as well.

I would not use Minwax, as it is not rated for exterior use (even though it
is interior wood). Satin shows fewer imperfections, but satin v. gloss is
a matter of taste. I'm not even going to try to profess to know which
