well I thought that but the steaming light is a regular traditional type...I
think it is WAY to dim as it barely has a glow...

My Davis light came with two bulbs, one bright and one dim. Any chance you
have one of each installed in those lights?

How did you do this test? "old wires" from a battery to the light, so not using
the wires in the mast? If so, then since the light is also dim now, my guess
would be that the old wires were fine and the problem is in the light itself.
Maybe in the socket or in the connections of the wi
fonctoids.

Oh, no. A knot? That will result in a hydrocoidal spin in the neutralos.
That, in turn, will cause an icolastic backflow of the angrafads which may
invert the dissacromal fonctoids

Is it possible (considering that two lights are dim) that you connected them in
series? I know that it sounds too simple, but it is a consideration.

Was this just after raising or lowering sails? If a halyard is fouled in the
cable it may chafe through and cut/short out the connection or pull the cable
out of its tie downs.

Yeah, I had crappy lamp cord going up my mast to the steaming/deck light, I
replaced that too. I was surprised to see it in there to be honest, I
thought C&C was better than that. I guess they did cut some corners.

Going up the mast?
I put new 14/2 wiring up my mast while it was horizontal on saw horses this
spring before stepping. And THAT was a pain in the ass! I would hate to do
that job from a bosun's chair 40 feet above the deck, no thanks. If you
have conduit in your mast it makes things a lot easier, i

Women! What did you expect?
Use the handheld and sail during daylight
Some of us have found the masthead/anchor light wire was actually cheap
untinned lampcord inside the mast - C&C didn't cut corners often, but..
If you have it too, that might be one part of what seem to be multiple issues.

Does the wire exit at the base of the mast or cabin top? Crushed at exit
point?
Wish I had more constructive ideas.
