There are furlers available that allow you to drop the furling drum and use a
jib that has a bolt rope. You may be able to have the best of both worlds if
you can have a loft install a rope slider to replace the hanks on your present
sails. You would still need a jib cut just for the furl

We put a Harken Mk IV furler on Flight Risk and it is the bomb! No problems so
