You'll have to drop the rudder in order to drill through the rudder shaft and
bearings.
The rudder shaft seems too thin to get enough threads tapped in? Also, the zerk
fittings might go bad over time, so I glassed in SS bushngs to the fiberglass
shaft wall, and screw the zerks into those. Parts

I think you have to look at boat values differently. It's more about the
enjoyment we get out of sailing or just puttering with our boats. My boat
is worth a lot to me, maybe not so much to someone else. That's because we
develop an emotional attachment to them. They are like children in many
ways.
Whether you're depressed about the current state of boat prices, the extreme
cost of a bling thing like the Edson wheel, take heart, we own C&C's.
I had a nice day yesterday cleaning Touche'. I scrubbed the winter mildew and
spring pollen off the decks then washed the topsides with Awlwash.
