Spot on, Dennis! I find it difficult to relate the cost of the boat to the pleasure it gives me in so many ways. I just find it sad that our great boats are slowly slipping into obscurity, one dollar at a time. There is no logical reason that well preserved and equipped older boats should suddenly become essentially worthless. Less than 10K for a decent C&C 27 is ridiculous. Especially when a new Optimist costs over 4K and a Laser is 5 or 6. See: http://www.lasersailingdirect.com/laser.php?p=newboats

I had a nice day yesterday cleaning Touche'. I scrubbed the winter mildew and spring pollen off the decks then washed the topsides with Awlwash. After I finished, I just stood on the pier and looked at this beautiful, wonderful boat with its gorgeous lines, the sweep of the bow sheer and the new shiny red paint. I thought back on all the wonderful sailing, cruising, racing experiences I'd had on Touche'. I thought about the afternoon before Hurricane Katrina when I'd completed the storm preparations and said "goodbye", not knowing what would be left after the storm. I decided, that after 14 years (has it been that long?) I was falling in love all over again. I can't wait to take Touche' to Pensacola and enjoy the cruise down the coast. Dennis C.
