Hi Howard
Document your rebuild for us with lots of pictures. Good luck! It's worthwhile
and completely satisfying to complete a job like this.
What is on the to-do list?

Hello to all,
This is my first post, I've been reading the posts for a few weeks now. I'm
looking to buy a sailboat in the mid 30' range, and the C&C 35 has caught my
interest.
What kind of speed does the boat have in light and medium winds up to about
20-25 kts? I assume already that this bo
Alera was a lake boat. So, when we brought her out to Seattle we had
to remove the VC-17. The folks as Seaview as well as the Interlux
fellow all warned that the silicon in the VC 17 makes it necessary
to take the hull down to gelcoat. I was also advised that since
there may be some penetra
Howard,
Good luck on the rebuild. There are lots of used symmetricals out
there. Start with Bacon's in Annapolis. There are several other used
sail dealers such as Pineapple and Minney's too.

It's balsa (same as the rest if the hull). The yard went with foam on the deck.

Dwight,
I don't know if this is design related, or mis-use related. I think this
latest issue was a manufacturing fault (the void in the mast step). I
think my prior core issue was maybe also manufacturing related. There were
no obvious penetrations through the fiberglass on the interior or ext

Thanks for the correctionI can't remember all the timing protocols
with IP2000E.that's why I said 'read, and more importantly, follow
the instructions'. Depends as well as the paint you are using.

Hi Joe
thank`s for the input. The MFJ-4416B seems to be a really good idea to
solve the voltage problem.
I`m using a LDG tuner, a little bit modified, but in general something
like the SGC.

Hi All,
Lost all of my racing sails in Hurricane Sandy. Went to retrieve them
from my sail locker at Raritan Yacht Club to discover that the building
where the sail lockers were located was DESTROYED and all its contents
were bulldozed away. (it was a concrete and cinder block building

I have been back there a couple of times, no easy fit for me and in my last
post I called the adjustments turn buckles which are at the very back.
You will need to hold one end from moving and adjust the other and you need
to adjust each side to keep your wheel centered if it is now, or
I have had experience with Interprotect on 2 different boats.
The first was a 1974 Viking 28. I stripped the bottom of this boat to gel
coat when I bought it and did 5 coats of Interprotect. I also had the iron
keel sand blasted and put Interprotect on the keel at the same time. I sold

Peter;
Last April, Blue Water Sailing had a series of articles about installing SSB

I saved a digital copy of the articles. Perhaps I "saved" them too well,
because it just took me over 1/2 hour to track them down on my la

Good advice from Bob, but this bit is wrong:
"If my memory is correct, you have about two weeks after applying the 2000E
to apply your antifouling paint. After that, you have to sand the
2000E. We applied 2 coats of Micron CSC over the 2000E."
You should put your first coat of antifouling on
Edd, whatever product you choose, read the instructions carefully, but
more importantly follow them. Applying Interprotect 2000E isn't rocket
science but it is labor intensive.and to get 10 mils thickness on a

I would recommend the barrier coat to anyone who has had their boat's bottom
cleaned down to the gel coat. Peace of mind and a real plus for resell value. I
never had a blister, but were given the opportunity when changing bottom paint
type in 2007. The only hard part is the prep, so if you've d
My boat had previously been a nothern fresh water boat and it had not had

I use insulators in my backstay and an SGC auto-tuner. So far it has matched
every frequency I have tried it on, which would be every ham and marine band

Edd,
I soda blasted last spring and used Interprotect 2000E. I used almost six
gallons. Alternating gray and white makes it very easy to show where you've
covered the hull for each coat. I had blisters. Lots of small ones, but
some ended up larger than expected. Several were a couple inches
I am not aware of any C&C boats that ever had blistering (osmosis) problems,
at least around here.maybe there are more such problems in southern
waters.so I can't justify the effort and expense of the Interprotect
system.maybe if I ever did a total bottom paid removal I would consider
