Alera was a lake boat. So, when we brought her out to Seattle we had
to remove the VC-17. The folks as Seaview as well as the Interlux
fellow all warned that the silicon in the VC 17 makes it necessary
to take the hull down to gelcoat. I was also advised that since
there may be some penetration by the VC into the gelcoat, a barrier
coat was necessary.
I went with a Interlux 2000 under (in black) and Interlux Ultra (red)
on top. I haunted the yard throughout the process, but did no do any
of the work myself. I tried to pull up my order record on Fisheries
but that one was not there. My recollection (far whatever that's
worth) was that it was about 1 1/4 g per coat. Again , if memory
serves me - I got 5g of the 2000 and 3 or 4 of the Ultra and did ~4
coats of the 2000 and ~3 of the Ultra.
Alera has not been out of the water since then, but I will be having
her hauled the next time she's in the yard to check out h9w it's all
holding up and for a pressure wash.
