Hi Brent,
Enjoyed your response.
I'd much rather have a shoal draft C&C 27 MkV on a trailer, than a MacGregor
whatever the cost. The C&C 27 MkV is a beautiful boat to my eye. I think you
have the deeper fixed keel, but I enjoy your comments and I would enjoy crewing
for you in a race, if possi
This has been an interesting thread as I recently had this conversation with
friends in Vancouver. They mentioned to me that they were interested in a M26
and wanted my opinion on the matter. I explained to them that its a boat that
has a very specific niche and its limitations need to be unders
One man's opinion of beauty can vary widely from anothers.
Olin Stephens drew nice lines early on. Dorade, Bolero, etc. Later he made a
statement something like, "A pretty boat is a fast boat ." I take that to mean
that his customer's values had shifted so that "fast" was more important than

Hi Sam,
The Open 6.5 is tempting. I'd love to play with one of those, but they're too
small, and still reguire deep water for the bulb keel. I'm not really trying to
solve this problem, it's a dream. The Figaro II is more attractive, and more
expensive. Still deep, but better for offshore. A dr

Hi Dwight,
This quote is from a 1983 article . I thought the
original came from Herreshoff but I couldn't find it.
* As Bruce Kirby, designer of Canada 1 says,
"there is no excuse for an ugly boat".
It nicely sums my opinion of the Mac 26 and in
hindsight I should have suggested the GOB rev
Hi Craig,
My daughter's ship Mellon passed by you this afternoon, along with her
sistership Midget. Tried to alert you via Facebook. I found a webcam from New
Dungeness Lighthouse and got a glimpse of the Midget running by at 16 knots.
Mellon was too coy and kept out of range. Very pretty sky.
Obviously I agree.I own one of those older C&C's for several reason and
"pretty" is one.but "pretty" as I am sure you know is in the eye of the
beholder.sometimes I even wonder considering "pretty" as a prerequisite why

Yeah...but we own some of the prettiest boats on the water and that gives us a

Seriously, my old dad used to say that one would be safer criticizing another

OK; I was sorta trying to say we owners of older C&C boats may be well
advised to be a little gentle when speaking of other boats, and like
someone on this list said lately, "to each his own" and I agree with what
you are saying, there are many ways to have fun on the water in any boat or
board or
Agree Dwight. As you know, everything is relative, and quality costs $$$. Also,
it is possible to overbuild quality into a boat, until it becomes unjustifiably
expensive for the average person. ie, Swan or even Wally Yachts. It's been my
experience that you can have more fun for less money, by n
Chuck,
The cockpit area came with teak on the seating areas.it wasn't very nice as
it wasn't caulked.just strips. That is all staying off and a traditional
non-skid finish will be applied.
