I figured out why I wasn't getting any output from lilypond --version or
lilypond --help in a cygwin console. I needed to set the CYGWIN=tty
environment variable, and then it worked fine.

Gilles, it works on AMD64 but you must have 32 bit compatibility
packages installed. Debian is not bi-arch cu
Hi.
I've downloaded 2.6.0 in its new packaging style.
Right now, all I can say is: It doesn't work (TM).
I understand this is about simplifying installation for everyone;
hence, I followed the simple instruction on "autopackage.org", and
this the result:
# bash lilypond-2.6.0.x86.package

I downloaded and extracted the lilypond-tools-2.6.0.zip file for Windows.
Running Lilypond-book from a command prompt on WinXP, I got the following

The idea is to help a newbie user getting started without the need to
read documentation. For one, users expect a program they install to
appear in the menu. Also, the autopackage installation explicitely

the Ghostscript package on LilyPond.org was compile on FC3, so I guess I
have to make a separate FC4 ghostscript.

I think your problem is a general Linux issue, nothing specific
to Ghostscript or LilyPond. When you start a program, the loader
looks for libraries that have to be loaded dynamically. A number
of directories are searched by default, including /usr/lib/ and /lib/.
Read the man pages for ld.so and
Hi,
http://lilypond.org/doc/ redirects me to the 2.4 documentation. This should be
the 2.6 documentation now.
